Corvidae Indiegogo Launch

Wolfheart Productions in partnership with Cat and Weasel Films are proud to announce that a crowdfunding campaign will launch on 27 August at 0900 GMT for our latest short film “Corvidae”, starring Maisie Williams from hit TV show Game of Thrones.

‘Urban Gothic’ writer Tom de Ville is making his directorial debut, supported by Director of Photography Maja Zamojda and VFX Supervisor Alan Marques. The film is produced by Nick Hudson and Alexander Wolpert, who are hoping to develop “Corvidae” into a feature film next year.

“Corvidae” is a dark fairytale about a young girl who loves birds, and the very strange thing that happens when she tries to protect a wounded crow from the boys in her village. Rooted in the tradition of pastoral horror it is a short, silent film inspired by the work of writers such as Alan Garner and Arthur Machen.

The raised funds will be distributed across the VFX, colour-grade, music, titles, sound design and all the ancillary costs associated with top-level festival submissions. The campaign will be hosted on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo and will run for 40 days from 27 August 2013 until 11 October  2013. Perks include limited edition prints from renowned concept artist Ben Kovar (“300”, “Wrath of the Titans”), “Corvidae” photographs signed by Maisie Williams, invitations to an exclusive crowdfunding screening followed by a Q&A and many more! The goal is to raise £20,000. 15% of all funds raised above the target will be donated to a charity of Maisie Williams’ choice.

Alexander Wolpert, Founder of Wolfheart Productions commented, “This is a really exciting time for Wolfheart Productions. We’ve thrilled to have brought together some exceptional talent to work on Corvidae, with the goal of making every element of the film of the highest quality. Maisie Williams brings a wonderful quality to the screen, creating the perfect atmosphere and delivering a brilliant intensity to the film. The whole team is looking forward to the end result when Corvidae is released early next year.”

Announcing our next project: Old Boys

Associate director Geoffrey Breton will be shooting the pilot for a six part documentary series entitled Old Boys in December. We plan to film the full early series next year.

Dorothea Gibbs and associate producer Laura-Jane Zielinska are producing the pilot and Jason Oxley (In Absence) is on board as cinematographer.

Through beautifully filmed interviews of the Old Boys, conducted by the bright young stars of the emerging generation the experiences and stories of such actors as Sir Derek Jacobi, Sir Michael Gambon and Gawn Grainger, will be safe-guarded and recorded for future generations to enjoy. The documentary will also serve as a passing-on of the life-long acquired skills of these great masters to their younger apprentices.

Old Boys will explore the history of the British Theatre in the Twentieth Century, as told by the men who have lived it.

Actor and president of Actors’ Equity, Malcolm Sinclair tells us more about why this important documentary must be made…
